News from Highbury Nursing Home from the Home Manager
The past year has been one of the most challenging that anyone will experience in a life-time.
We have though risen to the challenges facing us. We continue to maintain family contact with the use of iPads, Smart phones, letters, emails, cards, window visits and of course the Pod visits. (Our Head of Maintenance Dean is duly proud of his design and construction.)
We recognise that everyone needs to have a reason to get up in the morning and while the activities team come up with more and more inventive ways to keep everyone meaningfully occupied and entertained, the Kitchen Team produce high quality and delicious home cooked meals. The Domestic Team ensure that all areas of the home are thoroughly cleaned every day and pay particular attention to our resident’s rooms, while the laundry staff ensure that everyone is well presented and comfortable.
One of the huge strengths of Highbury Nursing Home is it’s fantastic core team of staff who have worked tirelessly to make everyday worthwhile regardless of the restrictions and the lockdowns.
Presently we have over 90% uptake of the Covid-19 Vaccine in the whole home population which includes residents and staff alike, with all residents having received their first vaccine during the first week of January, 2021. There were no significant side effects and life has continued very much as it always does with a family atmosphere and a daily “buzz” with great humour, kindness and compassion for all.
