We provide professional, compassionate care centred around kindness, dignity, and respect. Family plays a key role in our philosophy with both residents and their families shaping our service.
Our registered nursing staff and professional carers are chosen for their warmth and compassion, in addition to their expertise. Residents receive constant attendance, 24-hours a day, and are assisted with their personal care needs as required.
Services at Highbury include residential nursing care, respite stays and specialist dementia care. Person-centred care plans ensure treatment is tailored to the individual needs of each resident. Both residents and their families are involved in every stage of planning, evaluating, and reviewing care plans.
Continuity in medical care is vital for wellbeing and we ensure residents see a regular GP. Following transformations in healthcare across Birmingham, we are supported 7 days a week by the Enhanced Care Home Support Hub based at Moseley Hall Hospital who work with us collaboratively to avoid unnecessary hospital admission.
Funding care for yourself or a relative can be a stressful experience, to help we have produced a guide with some general facts about paying for care in a nursing home, including links to sources of independent advice.
Philosophy of Care
Our fundamental goal is to assist residents to maintain their independence in a homely, caring, and safe environment. We do this by employing expert and compassionate staff members who provide person-centered care plans that incorporate the emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing of each individual resident.
Continuity in care is vital for our residents and we promote strong communication between all involved in a residents care provision. Our services are based on current knowledge and research, moving away from outdated approaches.
Service User Feedback
Service user feedback plays a vital role in maintaining our high standards of care. All residents have access to a resident survey of their individual experience of life at Highbury Nursing Home. Questions include:
- Are you happy here?
- How do you feel today?
- Do you like the food?
- Are the staff pleasant to you?
- What do you like best about the home?
Feedback provided can help us identify problems a resident may be experiencing with their care and their general quality of life at Highbury. We can also see what we are doing well so that we can ensure this is maintained.
