We understand that individuals with dementia may require extra support in maintaining their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Our registered nurses and friendly cares provide specialist 24-hour dementia care, including support with washing, dressing, dining, and mobility.
Family input and support is an important part of our care, and we prioritise building mutual trust with residents and their families, involving both in any decisions we make.
Meaningful activity helps to maintain a sense of self and purpose, our excellent activities team tailor their programmes to meet the needs of residents with dementia. Through our Memory & Reminiscing sessions, we help residents to remember and share memories from their past, encouraging self-esteem and positive social interaction. We also play card games, such as matching pairs and snap, which can help improve memory association.
All our meals are cooked from scratch by our chefs using quality seasonal ingredients. For those in the later stages of dementia, who may struggle with swallowing, we offer a delicious and varied puree menu.
Our visiting professionals provide extra care services to support the physical and mental wellbeing of each individual resident. Onsite GP services are provided by Poplar Road Primary Care Centre and dentistry services by Scott Arms Dental Practice.
Residents also enjoy regular visits from hairdressers and complementary therapists. For residents with dementia, our friendly hairdressers encourage input from family members so that they can provide styling to the residents’ tastes.
